MIAMI HEAT 101, NEW JERSEY NETS 98 (4/15/12): The Miami HEAT defeated the New Jersey Nets 101-98 to sweep the three game season
series, and increase their consecutive wins over the Nets to 10 games. The Nets scored 34 first quarter points on their way to a 55-52 lead at
halftime. LeBron James and Chris Bosh combined for 24 first half points for the HEAT. Kris Humphries and MarShon Brooks combined for 30 first half points to lead the Nets. The Nets pushed their lead to 79-70 going into the fourth quarter, and had an 86-84 advantage with 5:35 remaining in the
final quarter. James checked back into the game and he outscored the Nets 17-12 over the final 5:35 to take the 101-98 victory. James finished with 37 points, six rebounds and seven assists and Bosh had a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds. Humphries finished with 29 points and eight rebounds and Brooks poured in 24 points of his own for the Nets in defeat.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP: Raptors @ HEAT
SERIES NOTES: The HEAT and Raptors meet for the third and final match-up this season. Miami has won the first two games this season and with a win will sweep the season series for the fifth time in the franchise’s history and for the second consecutive season. The HEAT has currently won seven-straight games against the Raptors, tying for the fourth-longest current Miami streak. Last season, Miami swept the season series, 4-0. The HEAT is 39-21 all-time versus the Raptors in the regular season, and is 23-8 in games played in Miami. The HEAT is 16-13 in games played in
Toronto.
TORONTO RAPTORS NOTES
Toronto Raptors (22-40) are last in the Atlantic division, trailing division leader Boston by 14.0 games.
Alan Anderson, Amir Johnson, Aaron Gray, DeMar DeRozan and Ben Uzoh are the probable starters.
- Anderson is averaging 11.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 28.6 minutes in eight starts (Apr. 4-16) and is shooting .446 (37-for-83) from the field and .514 (19-for-37) from three-point range.
- James Johnson is averaging 16.5 points and shooting .684 (13-for-19) over the last two games (Apr. 15-16). Johnson has an opportunity to become the first player in team history to lead the club in steals (67) and blocks (80). He is averaging career highs in points (8.8), rebounds (4.6), steals (1.2), blocks (1.4) and minutes (25.1) this season.
- DeRozan is averaging 18.5 points and 3.4 rebounds through 10 games in April.
