Rockets Give Back to Education

Education is the key to our children's Future. Through the Clutch City Foundation, the Rockets have a myriad of
programs that help make learning fun and exciting for area students.

The Clutch City Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) established in 1995 by Rockets owner Leslie Alexander to Provide help, hope and inspiration to those who might otherwise be forgotten. Since its inception, the Clutch City foundation has raised more than $10 million for those who are less fortunate. Tux & Tennies is the foundation's premier fundraiser, and over the years has helped thousands of Houstonians in need.

Read. Play. Win! Presented by University of Phoenix
University of Phoenix is proud to present the Houston Rockets "Read. Play. Win!" program. The program is designed to promote the value and fun of reading in our community.

As the official education partner of the Houston Rockets, University of Phoenix believes an educated world is a better world. And it all starts with reading, which helps adults and children alike prepare for the game of life. That's why the University supports Read. Play. Win!along with your Houston Rockets.

SAT Training Camp presented by Comcast
In an effort to better prepare high school students for the SAT exam, the Houston Rockets and Comcast partnered with the Princeton Review to present the SAT Training Camp, a free college preparatory workshop. Speakers included Rockets center Chuck Hayes. The players spoke on their overall college experiences and on taking the SAT, as well as take part in a question and answer segment at the conclusion of their talks. The Training Camp will provide a full menu of information to help guide parents and students through the college application process, including admissions, financial aid, SAT prep classes, test dates and much more.

 

Teacher of the Game Presented by Devon Energy
For the seventh consecutive year, the Houston Rockets and Devon Energy Corporation are teaming up to recognize exemplary teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty, as well as inspire their students to succeed in school and in life. We need your help identifying these superstars.

During the 2011-12 season, fifteen (15) outstanding teachers will receive the Devon Energy "Teacher of the Game" honor. Each honoree will receive tickets to a Houston Rockets home game, on-court recognition during the game, as well as a $100 gift certificate for classroom supplies, a t-shirt, a tote bag and award commemorating this exciting event! Honorees will also be recognized on Rockets.com.

In addition to the 15 Teacher of the Game honorees, Devon Energy and the Houston Rockets will also randomly select 25 additional nominated teachers for recognition. These teachers will receive two (2) tickets to Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors game on Thursday, March 22, 2012, and a commemorative mug. Devon Energy and the Houston Rockets will also randomly select individual nominators whose teacher is selected as the final fifteen (15) and they receive a "Teacher of the Game Nominator" t-shirt.

Kashmere Feeder System Schools
The Rockets are continuing their support of schools located in the Houston Independent School District’s Kashmere Feeder System. As part of the on-going efforts, the team continues its work with school administrators to develop initiatives that help students improve their performance on state mandated exams. From hosting Rockets motivational rallies, inviting the entire student body and their parents to home games, providing incentives for students to participate in tutoring classes, and awarding scholarships to students who passed the test, the Rockets are hands-on in their support.
